Looking for the competitive edge?

Work harder than the next guy.

CBS correspondent Byron Pitts learned you can’t always outsmart someone, but you can always outwork them. Working his way from a North Carolina cub reporter to a coveted spot as 60 Minutes correspondent, Pitts discovered hard work was the way to separate himself from his competitors.

He likens his work ethic to belonging to an elite club.

“It’s a small fraternity, people who are hard workers.” And his success? “Success is just your work made public,” Pitts says.

“Hard work never lies. When you’ve worked hard, you know where you stand."

Rely on your own strength of body and soul.  Take for your star self-reliance, faith, honesty and industry.  Don’t take too much advice — keep at the helm and steer your own ship, and remember that the great art of commanding is to take a fair share of the work.  Fire above the mark you intend to hit.   Energy, invincible determination with the right motive, are the levers that move the world.
